About us

Estonian Centre for Architecture (ECA) was established at the end of the Architecture Year in 2008 by the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Union of Estonian Architects. ECA’s activities focus on developing architectural culture in Estonia and promoting contemporary Estonian architecture abroad. ECA is a non-profit institution.

Our mission at the Estonian Centre for Architecture is to promote Estonian contemporary architecture, raise awareness about how good quality architecture and urban space benefits us and support Estonian architects and architecture offices aiming to expand into export. Our goal is to integrate the knowledge and competence of architecture sector with other fields in our society, thus contributing to the development and innovation of both the field of architecture as well as related fields. We cross borders and take down barriers to reach new audience. We cater to organisations as well as individuals and work on local, national, regional and global level. Estonian Centre of Architecture is one of the organisations carrying out Estonian architectural policy.

We work with other similar organisations across the world, Tallinn city, several Estonian ministeries and local government across the country, companies and entrepreneurs, to synthesise information and a variety of goals, when conceptualising and creating better public space.

Our organisation is headed by architect Raul Järg who in 2001 graduated from Estonian Academy of Arts architecture and urban planning deparment, did his internship at the Parkin Architects in Toronto, Canada from 2005 to 2007, was the City Architect of Rakvere in Estonia from 2008 to 2012 and worked in Ühinenud Arhitektid office in Tallinn.
